Sri Lanka’s Flavours

Explore the charming seaside town of Negombo as soon as you get to Sri Lanka. This city of wonders has a lot of places worth seeing. After dropping off your bags at your accommodation, start your journey by travelling to the city. In the centre of it is St. Mary’s Church. Because of the representations of Jesus Christ, this magnificent site which was finished in 1922 is regarded as one of the most beautiful churches. Make sure to visit the beach at the end of the day for the sunset and enjoy a stunning seafood dinner.

On your journey to Polonnaruwa from Negombo, you will stop frequently. The first is the Pinnawala Elephant Sanctuary which is an Asian elephant orphanage. When you come here, you will be supporting their conservation efforts. Sigiriya is the next destination on the itinerary. The Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site is located in this city. To find out about its accomplishments climb this granite rock. Ascending the stairs you will encounter the frescoes that line the walls. Once you reach the summit you will be in awe of the splendour of both nature and human innovation.

You will be driven to Polonnaruwa where you can spend the night. The third day began with an early morning exploration of Polonnaruwa. Savour the beautiful scenery of this city which is renowned for its contributions and for serving as Sri Lanka’s governing body from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries. After touring temples and ruins proceed to Kandy.

Everyone in Sri Lanka is familiar with the ethereal city of Kandy. It is the home of the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a revered holy place in Sri Lanka. Experience the splendour of this magnificent temple by going there. Visit Peradeniya to see the Botanical Gardens and its verdant lawns covered with vibrant flower petals. Stay the night in this city.

Prepare to leave for Nuwara Eliya, a serene city in Sri Lanka’s central hills as dawn draws near. The traditional Ceylon tea is made there. Experience the city’s climate which is favoured by the majority of residents as a place to go on vacation. By nightfall return to Kandy.

As you depart for the Southern Coast, say goodbye to Kandy. You will find yourself encircled by golden beaches and spotless waves there.

Travel to Galle, the location of the Galle Dutch Fort to witness the elaborate architecture of Asia’s best-preserved sea fort. Don’t forget to visit the beaches to have fun swimming, surfing and tanning.

From the South, head to the Western Coast which will be your next destination. Colombo comes at you with its energy and good times. Enjoy your day here as you explore the city’s masterpieces such as Independence Square, The National Museum, the National History Museum and the Old Parliament Building. Visit the Galle Face Green Promenade to enjoy an alluring sunset.

To leave Sri Lanka, depart Colombo and make your way to the airport with fond memories of your time spent exploring and having a good time.
