Honeymoon Bliss
After reaching Sri Lanka proceed to Colombo and check into a hotel for a rest.
When the second day begins, head into the city to explore its attractions. Shop at the many stores and malls located all over the city. To attain physical bliss after this shopping excursion head back to your hotel and get an Ayurvedic massage with your partner. As you finish your day, ride your bike through the city to see amazing sights like Independence Square and the Old Parliament Building.
On the third day, depart from Colombo and head to the cultural city of Sigiriya. A stop along the way is the Pinnawala Elephant Sanctuary which rescues and cares for injured and orphaned elephants. Once you arrive in Sigiriya, retire to your lodging to unwind.
On the fourth day, you can go for an early morning balloon ride if the weather permits. By doing this you will be able to create memories and see Sigiriya’s landmarks from a new perspective. After a hearty lunch head to Minneriya for a safari jeep ride through the National Park. There are a lot of Asian elephants gathering in groups as you walk through the park.
Head to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress at the break of the day to hike to the summit and witness the magnificent sunrise. Explore this rock and see murals that date back hundreds of years. Sweeping views of the forests, the palace and the king’s throne are located on top. As you travel to Kandy, pay attention to the Spice Gardens. A wide variety of indigenous spices including cinnamon and cardamom can be found in these gardens. Get a massage for your head and shoulders before travelling to Kandy. Get there in time to witness a traditional cultural dance.
Start the day with a city tour. Discover the city’s highlights such as the Peradeniya Gardens, an iridescent garden with romantic scenery and the Holy Temple of the Tooth Relic where the relic of Lord Buddha is preserved. Enjoy some shopping to find the best treasures: vibrant batiks, plush silks and exquisite wood carvings to bring home as mementoes.
Travel by train to Hatton, a cool serene hilly city from Kandy. When you get there you can go to your hotel to unwind and spend some time together. Then you can go to the restaurant to eat dinner by candlelight.
Explore the city which is filled with lush green hills that are adorned with tea plantations on the eighth day. Take a stroll around these tea hills and take in the view of tea pluckers carefully gathering the tea. See this tea being turned into the well-known Sri Lankan tea by visiting the factory.
Travel to Galle which is on the country’s Southern Coast at the beginning of day nine. The centuries-old Fort is open for exploration once you get there. As the best-preserved sea fort in Asia, it has also earned recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Travel to the Madu River to take a traditional boat ride and take in the scenery and fauna.
Unwind on the beach and enjoy the sunshine during this day. Savour the serene wind and the placid waves as they blow past you on this blissful day.
As you leave Sri Lanka you’ll feel at ease and full of memories as you head to the airport.
