Seaside Thrills & Wilderness Wonders
The first two days of this journey will be spent in Kalpitiya. You can enjoy the sights of dolphin pods as they swim through the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, or enjoy lying down on the sand and resting.
Head to Wilpattu National Park, Many animals in this park rely on the naturally occurring ‘Willu’. These are land depressions, filled by rainwater that become vital watering holes. Enjoy the views of animals congregating around them as they graze.
Days four and five will be spent in Habarana. After arriving at your lodging, head to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress where you will climb the tall granite rock. In addition to being The Eighth Wonder of the World, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you go up you can see the beautiful frescoes that line the walls. Then take a tour of Minneriya National Park where you will see crocodiles, deer and elephant herds. Take a tour of the village and discover its past.
On the sixth day, travel to Ramboda via Kandy making a stop to explore the city. See the Temple of the Tooth Relic which has colorful sights. Take a tour of the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, a captivating area brimming with beauty.
Take the most charming train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella on day seven. You will pass charming villages and sleepy towns as well as beautiful mountains and sparkling waterfalls.
There will be adventure over the next three days. Start by going to Little Adam’s Peak, a beautiful and enjoyable hike that will allow you to take in Ella’s breathtaking views. After that, pay a visit to the Nine Arches Bridge, a stunning piece of art that is ideal for photography. After that, head to Arugam Bay for some thrilling water activities.
Yala National Park marks the next stop on this exciting adventure. The largest leopard population in Sri Lanka can be found in this park which is regarded as the country’s oldest. Other creatures like buffalos, deer, elephants and crocodiles are visible.
On the twelfth day, travel to Udawalawe National Park, home of the largest elephant congregation. You can stroll through this savannah and see big herds of elephants.
On day thirteen, travel to Unawatuna and unwind on the shore. The following day should be spent touring the attractions such as the Galle Dutch Fort which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its preservation. After that, travel to Mirissa so you can go whale watching on an excursion. Cycle through the village to explore and learn about it.
